When we cheat our children, Jacksonville fails

You did it, Jacksonville. You made a difference for Jacksonville's children.

During the 2010 legislative session, you told lawmakers that we simply don't trust them to handle education reform. Our governor heard us, and vetoed Senate Bill 6, a bill that lacked the support of hundreds of thousands of parents, teachers, and other advocates. That veto cleared the way for teachers and school districts across the state to convene and build consensus on real education reform measures for Florida, including reasonable accountability measures for teachers.

But our work is far from over: Florida still needs a reliable source of funding for public education; and local districts still need to be freed up from the state's costly--yet unfunded--mandates.

You answered the call to defeat SB 6: Will you answer the call to stay engaged in our fight? We won't stop until Florida has a reliable funding source for public education; we won't stop until Duval County has discretion on how to use those funds to best serve Jacksonville's students.

You can help by:

1. Donating to Save Duval Schools now. We're asking those families who can to please spare a "Jackson" ($20) for Jacksonville's students. But no contribution is too small or too large to help us.

2. Joining ongoing discussions on our Facebook Fan Page. Thanks to advocates like you, we've surpassed the 1,700 fans mark! Please join us on Facebook and keep apprised of important updates on our Save Duval Schools Fan Page! (Facebook welcomes new users every day and joining is easy!)
